Mini Golf

Who moved the hole?

Guess who got a hole in one?  He recently learned the over-the-top fist pump...

We played a couple rounds at the local mini-putt over the past 2 weeks.  Marked improvements for both of them.  The first time out the game looked more like hockey than golf, 2nd time they started to get the hang of it.  Golf is a good game for them since they can both play, Dylan actually has a mini set of clubs and has started to practice in our backyard -- issue is he seems to sneak out a real ball (instead of the practice ones) and rips it in the backyard!  Matter of time before a window sees its last day.

Time for a dip

The girls met up for lunch before heading to the pool together

Weather over 70?  Go to the pool!  It's a win-win -- we get to meet up with our friends and the kids get to meet up with their friends, coolers/beverages are permitted on the premises as well.  My only issue is that we pay a "membership" fee in order to attend, which theoretically makes it a social club.  For those of you who know me well, I only socialize with a select few, and my requirements to open that door are shared with no one.

Facts of life

Recent conversation with our son:

Mom:  "Dylan, why are you picking your nose?"

Dylan:  "Because life's about picking!"

Can't argue with that...

The wait is over

Efficiency

Everyone in Michigan waits for the 4 month window when the weather is nice.   Now that it's here, we did what pretty much everyone does -- fired up the grill, had some friends over and enjoyed our time outside.

Spring Recital

Madison had another recital last weekend, she did a great job, two songs this year!  I think it's key to have your kids get up in front of a crowd and perform once a while.  The thing about Madison is --  once she makes her mind up, she will get up and do it, no turning back.  She has the best drive, I've learned a thing or two from her.

Sports Nut

Dylan put on a bit of a clinic last weekend, his team ended up losing though... final score:

Gray Team - 4
Dylan - 3

That's right, he ended up scoring all 3 -- this kid just loves playing sports!  He's the smallest one out there and ends up making a huge impact every game.

One hour after the above soccer game Dylan took to the ice, he didn't miss a beat.  I swear he doesn't get tired, during practice his coach sent him to the front of the line to demo a drill too.  The coach was teaching the kids how to take a hard pass, no problem for someone that practices hockey every day.

Mathleticism

It's funny how often you hear that schools are providing too much homework for kindergartners, that it's too much too soon.  Quite the contrary, the homework is simple and repeated ad nauseam at same level for weeks, particularly math.  I think kids can quickly figure out how to add 1 to any number, let alone practicing it for weeks.

Dylan is the youngest and smallest kid in class, no issues socially or academically.  I remember one of his preschool teachers saying we should wait a year to send him to kindergarten.  After a year, it's clear that age is not a factor, in fact I've resorted to iPad apps for math to up the game.  Today he started multiplication and picked it up rather quickly, Maddie threw together above test (she took it easy on him) and he breezed through it in no time.  I know he could of been doing this months ago, I look at it as my fault for not putting the time in with him -- makes you think about priorities.

School Concert

Madison's class performed along side the 3rd graders for about 30 minutes, she remembered all the words and choreography.  A great performance, particularly when they sang This Land is Your Land.

Family Pics

Rare family pics, seized the opportunity from Maddie's first communion.

Too much

This kid is too much sometimes, I asked to take a couple pictures and this was the pose I got.

Holes in her ears

Maddie got her ears pierced last month, one ear at at time -- piece of cake, she was surprised how little it hurt.

Weekend with the kids

Pics from when Mom was out of town for the weekend.  Kept ourselves out of the house most of the time, lots of treats (for me as well, I slipped in a trip to BW3).

Putting 'em to work

I asked Madison to put on an outfit to help with landscaping -- she went with a fashionable look

These two have been helping me out with the landscaping the past couple weekends.  Maddie and Dylan both take care of the weeding, my least favorite task.  The heavy lifting is done, all that's left is the mulch -- need to order up a few yards and lay it down.

First Communion

Pictures from Madison's first communion.  Family in town, fun time had by all.
