Bloggology

Years ago when I started on this blog, the term 'social media' was in its' infancy... blogging was mainstream and texting acronyms were probably only in the 000's.  For me, having a blog was primarily to keep a running 'scrapbook' of my kids as they grew older -- which I have now handed down responsibility and maintenance to my daughter, and within the next year expect my son to chip in too.  There's an element to blogging that cannot be touched through today's traditional social media -- and it's simple, people need to go out of their way to read your posts and do so because they find the topics engaging.  Granted, my blog to this point is 90% about my kids -- which is a draw for any family member, however with Madison now taking over the reigns, I'm going to have to slowly transition away from my 'go-to' blog topics.

For years I have been saving all of my photos by year, by month, in folders on my computer to prep for blog posts.  Now, with facial recognition software and auto picture loads based on date, there's no longer a need to keep a 'scrapbook' blog -- it's simply out dated, went the way of Polaroids.  The only thing I could possibly add is my commentary, however I feel the stories are better said from my kids than my vantage point.  So I think I'll keep this blog going, 1) out of principle, I'll keep this going because I feel obligated to do so, and 2)  you will never catch me writing a lame one-liner on social media for all to read and none to care (while crossing my fingers for multiple 'likes' to come my way).  I'd rather share my thoughts with five people that decide to come here instead...
