We took a trip to the city aquarium today, nice place -- I'd consider it more of an indoor zoo than anything.  They had a section with robotic dinosaurs too, a fan favorite for any little boy (Little D included). 

Favorite animals of the day:

-  Dylan:  Sharks and spiders
-  Madison:  Penguins

Swim class

The after school swim lessons are almost done for the year -- you'll notice in the pictures that the pool is pretty much abandoned, once it gets 1 degree below 80, only people from the US take a dip.   The kids have been taking lessons for the past two months (about twice a week depending on the weather) and have made a lot of progress.

Corcovado, I took this pic from Sugarloaf.  We lucked out while we were at Corcovado -- it cleared up right when we got there, and clouded back up after we left.

Rio cable car historical nuggets

This kind of reminds me of the opening from the Brady Bunch.

100 years ago, the yellow cable car above was one of only 3 cable cars in the world.  They used this cable car for 65 years before it was replaced by the cable car from below.

This was the cable car for the next 35 years (up until last year).

I was trying to get a picture of the entire cable car as it has a bit more Brazilian history 'behind' it.  I didn't realize until afterwards that, ahem, the cable car wasn't the only thing involving a Brazilian 'behind' in it.
