Festa Junina

Preparation in the classroom before they headed outside.

Snack break -- they had some tasty chicken kabobs available at one of the stands.

Maddie had a blast with her friends, they ran around together for over an hour!

Maddie's school hosts this festivity every year -- I must say, it was nicely done.  We arrived at 2pm in time for Madison's performance on stage with her class and made it to the end for the fireworks.

Trip to the beach

This sums up the day.  In Brazil the thumbs up is very popular, even our 1Y8M old son has picked it up.

"Do you know where the weight room is?"

90 minutes in the car and we arrived at the beach -- perfect weather, everyone had a great time. 

Play date

Cathy arranged a play date with one of Maddie's best friends after school (Zoey).  They had a great time!  So we had a Korean speaking child playing with an English speaking child -- although you can tell Zoey is starting to pick up English from class during the day.  Zoey's parents do not speak English though -- so it was a bit of a challenge for Cathy to arrange -- think about it, we speak English, they speak Korean, the only common ground we have between us is Portuguese!

The Fifties Traditional Burger

Our family made an appearance at this restaurant on Mother's Day for lunch.  We had been there once before and liked it -- this visit went very smooth, they sat us in a corner area with plenty of space for the kids to wander and play.  Both the ambiance and food selection here gives us a feeling like we're at home -- plus it's hard not to like a burger made up from ground picanha.
